In our experience, a key to successful commercialisation is clear identification of the lead application.  Identifying the lead application for a technology can enable a faster path to market with a lower cash burn.  The Mission HQ team have a great deal of experience in evaluating some of the complex factors that determine the lead application and subsequent application roll-out paths.
 
Some factors influencing the lead application include:
  • Capital requirements
  • Time to market issues
  • Channel issues
  • Prototyping and development cost

 

In our experience the lead application is not always the most obvious.  Its role should be to assist in getting some early "quick wins" for the technology rather than demonstrating the ongoing commercial viability of the opportunity.
